The Church of England wants to return two bronze busts, given to them by the Benin kingdom in 1982. These were gifted to Archbishop Robert Runcie, who was the Archbishop of Canterbury at this time, by His Excellency Chief (Prof.) Ambrose F. Alli and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. These Bronzes have NOTHING to do with the repatriation of the Benin Bronzes Looted by the British in 1897. Why should the Church of England return a gift?
This is an open question the media community need to ask the British community and the church leaders.
Church might be having spiritual issue with it or they must of have kept it in their Museum making money.
Although BARCO has been all over and they might have seen some of our campaign and not happy with the 1897 Invasion... who knows...
This is rude and disrespectful of professor Ambrose Ali by the Church of against a former Edo state governor who from the bottom of his heart gave these two pieces of artefacts to them as a gift.
